Coach Rackley was a great mentor to me as he was to so many. I recall once, he was coaching the High School basketball team and he began to tear on a couple of Ehorns (Clark and Doug) stating " You could drive a Mack Truck thru that hole." meaning to the basket. As he served our country and then became a teacher says alot for my current profession as a teacher/coach. Thankyou Coach, for all you did for me and my life. He will be greatly missed by so many.

Whew, I'm not prepared. Jim Rackley has been a model of goodness who has personified genuine, selfless dedication to those who he touched through teaching, coaching, and community outreach. At the core of his being was an ardent belief that he shared with his church family.

We all are pilgrims in the same boat, just trying to dodge the rocks and shoals of life. Jim, I think, did a swell job. I have admired him for so many positive attributes. How can you forget an algebra instructor who comes the first day of class and offers up some hard and fast rules, all pointed towards no nonsense and no excuses for unpreparedness? Let me tell you that he made it stick!

Jim was always able to get more out of my athletic performance. He would personally show me a technique, and take the time for me to get it acceptable. His approach was always earnest and encouraging. How can one fail to learn from his exemplary behavioral model some of the more important lessons of life?

Lavena, Jimmy and Lisa, John and Marilyn, and Patti, please accept my condolences and very sincere regret for your great loss. I will dearly miss my good friend Jim Rackley!

I was so saddened by the news of losing Jim Rackley. In the close knit community of Mena, Coach Rackley, "D" whatever you called him or knew him as, was one of our brightest stars. He is one of the few men in my life that were like a father figure to me. I lost my own dad at age 4 so having a man like that and a family like his, as my neighbor, was extremely significant in my life. My love and prayers go out to the entire family and many friends touched by this funny, generous, kind hearted man!! May God hold him close!

"Family,"...... I say that 'cuz back in the day we were all his kids! There is a saying we've all said, "he puts his pants on one leg at a time," but that didn't apply to Coach, he was "special." He was and IS bigger than life. He has been an icon to me my whole life. I'll miss him!

I'll see you again, up there!

God Bless, Lavena and "Family."

During my career in public education, both as a coach and assistant principal, I had the honor of meeting many fine people. I can say with a great deal of pride that Coach Rackley ranks as one of the top five. All how knew him and had the priviledge to play for him have lost one of their best friends.
