Edith O. Lewis

Edith O. Lewis age 95 of Mena, formally of Montgomery County, died Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the DeQueen Medical Center. She was born on Wednesday, July 15, 1914 to George and Arettie Foshee Lawrence in Clarita, Oklahoma.

Edith was a hardworking, trustworthy person and you could always count on her word. She had a very good sense of humor and a quick wit. Her family was very important to her and she loved her children and grandchildren very much. She was a very giving person and supported the Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock and St. Jude's Hospital in Memphis. She was a great homemaker and loved to cook for her family and friends. Other hobbies were gardening, planting her flower beds and reading. Edith was a member of Christ's Church in Cove.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Marion H. Lewis; one brother Raymond Lawrence and one sister Pearl Lambert.

Survivors include one son Frank Lewis and wife Judy of Hatfield, Arkansas, one daughter Patricia Daniel of Fayetteville, Arkansas, three grandchildren, David Lewis and wife Beth of Bartlett, Tennessee, David Daniel of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Jennifer Daniel of Conway, Arkansas; four great-grandchildren, Christopher and Jody Lewis, Barrett and Autumn Daniel; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at the Hall Funeral Service Chapel in Mena with Dr. Donnie Edwards and Brother David Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery in Sulphur Springs, Arkansas. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 28, 2010 from 6-8 P.M. at the Hall Funeral Service Chapel.

Pallbearers will be David Lewis, David Daniel, Elzie Lewis, Anthony Lewis, Ray Lawrence and Dwight Lambert.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Dennie Loyd.

Memorials can be made to the Children's Hospital, 1 Children's Way, Little Rock, AR 72202-3591 and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
