Wanda Gayle Owens age 63 of Zafra, Oklahoma died Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at her home. She was born on Sunday, March 16, 1947 to L.W. and Christine Barron Curry in Mena, Arkansas.
She attended Acorn High School and graduated in 1964. After graduation she started her working career in 1965 at U.S. Motors where she was employed for 18 years. In 1982, she devoted herself to becoming a mother and homemaker. Her family was very important to her one of her greatest joys was cooking big meals for them. She also was a great seamstress and could make something out of nothing. She was a member of the Zafra Church of Christ. Some of her hobbies included bowling, water skiing, camping, traveling, working in the flower beds and gardening.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother James Curry and one grandson Cody Owens.
Survivors include her husband Garland Owens of the home; two sons, Dustan Owens of Ft. Lee, Virginia and Michael Owens of Smithville, Oklahoma; two daughters, Tracey Brien of Smithville, Oklahoma and Darnel Scott of Grand Rapids, Michigan; one brother, Dwight Curry of Mena; two sisters, Cordilla Keener of Mena and Debbie May of Mena; one sister in law, Sarah Curry of Mena; eleven grandchildren, Jenna and Travis Owens, Morgan Perrin, Kelsey, Rolanda, Shyla, Kacey Ludlow, Korben Brien, Ella and Aubrey Owens and Logan Scott; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed until we see her again in Heaven.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. at the Zafra Church of Christ. Interment will follow the service in the Nichols Cemetery in West Valley, Arkansas. Visitation will be Friday, May 28, 2010 from 6-8 P.M. at the Hall Funeral Service Chapel in Mena.
Pallbearers will be Dewayne Curry, Stanley Stinson, Chance Parker, Kelsey Ludlow, Joey Collins and Andrew Curry.
Memorials can be made to the Nichols Cemetery Fund, in C/O First National Bank, P.O. Box 1049, Mena, Arkansas 71953.
Services are entrusted to Hall Funeral Service in Mena.
